OUCH! YOU PRICK!

I tried to take a bite out of a porcupine. And now look at me. Look how terrified I am.

I can't close my mouth. I hurt so bad. I can't swallow or drink and I keep gaging and throwing up. I kept thrashing and yelping and turning in crazy circles like a mad dog. HELP HELP!

My mom grabbed me by the collar and we went home. I would not stay still. I was so confused and foaming and pawing and freaking out. My Dad was on a conference in Halifax so my mom called the vet. But it was late at night. The vet said it was not life and death so if we could wait until the morning we could get me in first thing, in the mean time we should try and remove as many as we could by ourselves.

But they were all stuck in my teeth and gums. Christa came down to hold me still and my mom took the pliers and pulled. The quills are barbed so they rip and tear on the way out. I went nuts and Christa took off screaming back to the attic and said she couldn't stand to do it. It was a long night and no one slept. My mom kept saying 5 more hours Guinness, 4 more, 3 more...it was terrible terrible terrible.

And now I am getting sleepy--and rest comes very easy....

The Passage...

It is Guinness and listen to this. On Halloween day we went out 'splorin' near our farm and found this old abandoned road.

This is something we can not resist. That is a trait passed down from our Gramps! Now there is all the new things to see... and all new smells to smell!

Oh! there is an old apple orchard down here.

My goodness, someone has lived here once and worked this land.

Oooohhhh! Spooky! We are right! just in time for Halloween, our very own Haunted House!

We can see why someone loved this land--tucked away under these hills.

And here is an old hewn bridge.

Children probably use to play here. Or perhaps this is where they gathered their water or did the wash.

It is strange to think about. We sit along the stream for a long time.

It does not seem possible that we could ever get old, or that the days could ever just pass us by.

But now the air is cool and crisp. And all the leaves have fallen from the trees but for what a gust of wind could claim...

And Time has certainly made a fool of me once again...
