Camp Fail!

 Hi it's Duke and winter hit hard out of nowhere.  We thought we were getting off easy but we got blasted in February and it stormed so much that calves came in the house to stay warm! 

 

And this little guy escaped from his box--or maybe I helped because I wanted to play.

 

 

The Lake is beautiful and covered with snow!

 

 

We sweep the lake and make a skate rink- can  you see me?

 

The snow drift are so high and the road to Crick Hollow is long....I wonder can we make it?

 

 

It might be easy going in snow shoes, but I have long stilts! I wonder if I can do it?

 

 

 

No I can not!

 

It is such hard going I need to take a break. I lay right in the snow in typical wolfie fashion! We turn around and go home.

 

I had fun but this little wolfie is calling it a day!  Bye for now, love Dukey!

DULL and SHARP!

 

Oh Hi, it is Duke and my very best friend and cousin-Clyde!  We love each other so much.  I am just 8 months old so he teaches me good behavior- just like a big brother!

 

 

These things called "SEASONS" are strange.  I don't know much about them, it was so warm when I first came on the scene, but now it is cool and crisp!  We are going around the "Grain Mill Loop!"  Want to come along?

 

This time of year- late Autumn- everything seems DULL, but also SHARP!  Does that make any sense?  After all, I am just a young pup and still trying to figure this stuff out!

 

We get to the little clearing.  We PLAY!  And BOY do I LOVE to PLAY!

SPROY YOI YOI YOI YOING!  Look at me jump! I am a SLINKY!

 



 

The Farmer says it will never snow until all the little ponds and streams are full.  I hear it has been a very dry summer. Uh Oh!  Maybe I drank too much?  Oh well, the levels are rising now, so maybe soon it will be winter.  I wonder what winter is, I wonder what snow feels like?

 

It is sprinkling a little on our walk.  The rain drops dangle on the shrubs.  When the sun comes out just a little, the field lights up like a million tiny crystals! 

 

It is so strange, but as we were walking, it felt like there were other wolfhounds from days gone by keeping up guard.  Walking these same paths, following from a safe distance...

but we cross the bridge and that feeling is gone. You all know this bridge well by now I am told!  We have completed the loop.  It is time to go home. 

 

And when I get to my  home, there is a warm bed and a fire.  There is always someone there to give me wolfie cuddles, and I am always up for that.  Funny how things are, eh?  Everything changes, but really, nothing changes at all....  til next time...love DUKEY!

A Very Special Christmas

 

ZZZzzzzzz Oh hi it's Guinness!  It's been a long time--my human is not good at updating my bloggy anymore.

 

 

 

 

Before Christmas she headed up North to Newfoundland to visit this little sweet potato...

 

 

And THIS little BEAR!  You guys remember Oliver and Jesse right?  My little human nephew pups!

 

And then it was Christmas and this is me and Maggi on Christmas morning!  It was postcard perfect.

 

And it was an old fashioned Christmas for sure.

 

 

...and surely you must remember some of this clan?  So as you can see everyone is well and safe and sound!

 

 

 

 

 

My human got snowshoes from Santa!  We've been going everywhere!

 

And guess what!  It was my birthday on New Years day and I turned SEVEN!!

 

 

And that is a very big number for a wolfhound.  But as you can see I am as handsome and healthy as ever.

 I got sticky buns for my breakfast with milky ...and spaghetti and garlic toast  for supper.

Everyone seems pretty happy to have me around for my 7th Christmas but I am going to surprise them all and be here for nest Christmas too.  Happy 2014 everyone.  Love your favorite furry wolfie boy--Guinny.

Christmas Comes Early to the Valley!

 Guinness here!  LOOK!  Gramps and camera-shy Gram came over with a delivery!

 What's inside?  Well--something for ME I hope!  Grams and Gramps open it--they have been waiting all day for my human to get home from work!  They are curious, or nosey--which one?

 Wow!  All these gifts for me! I am so excited I can't even move off the floor.  It is presents fron the HERB GARDEN again!  You know-- our friends Parsley, Sage and Lil' Sprout! They live in a far away land my human called--OAK-LA -HOME -AAH!  http://seasonsofmymind.blogspot.ca/  Go and say hi!

 Look what they made for our Christmas Tree!  Ornaments of all of us!  We just love them!  Everyone is having wonderful family fun laughing and looking.  We take alot of time to really look them over and enjoy them. 

 My human dad really gets a chuckle of the one of Christa-- his daughter, and big, fat Maggi looking humorously gigantic next to her! 

Parsley has stitched us another work of art.  The colors are just gorgeous.

And doesn't it look so perfect on our antique stove!

Hmm..something has got my attention.  I actually move!  TREATS!

Yes there is!  Alien crackers and ornaments of Groucho for his humans.  Oh.  This is so special.  You do not understand how touched they will be.  We have all had such a hard time saying farewell to our little galactic weirdo.  What a delightful way to keep him with us for the holidays and all the Christmases to come!

 It is a happy night.  My GrandPAWrents stay around for a long time.  We all laugh and talk about how special the blog has been-- and how so many people have elevated our lives by peeking into our little world now and then.  What a nice journey these blog years have been.  In years to come--won't we look back with love at these special moments!  This is such a great time in our lives.  These are such great years for us right now. It all really hits home. 

We want to do something nice for our friends.  They make our world a happier place and we feel so blessed to have them.   Hmmm...what can I do for them?  Something really special, and different.  They said they would like to come visit us in Nova Scotia someday...you know--get a taste of our life.   Hmmm....but until then....

Do you think they would like to try some Nova Scotia Lobster flavored chips?  C'mon--don't tell me it doesn't tweak your curiousity?  hehehe.  Thank you Parsley and Sage and Lil' Sprout.  Wow!  just WOW!  We love you guys.  but please...let us know about the chips---hehehe!
