Guinness Works Hard at the Farm

Oh hi--Guinness reporting from the country.  I am hard at work you see.

We are moving all the cows to the nice green pastures.  So I am busy.

But don't worry about me too much.  If I get tired I go curl up beside Maggi in the hay and take a nap.  See you guys next time.  Love from Guinness.

Stillness

Guinness here.  Everything is still.  The Earth is cold as bone.  It will never end.

Maggi checks the animals.  They have wintered well.

Maggi receives a message from Annie--the spirit horse...

She says the days are longer...  that Spring will surely come.  We will forget  the cold winter just as we do every year.  And someday we will long for these years--do not wish them away she whispers--do not wish them away.

..and so we go home...our minds full of thoughts of spring..and our dreams filled with the sounds of frogs and peepers.  Love Guinness..zzzzzz

Bin Pickin'

Guinness here reporting from the farm.

I am supervising--my human is changing the blades.  You wanna see why?

Well, follow me--I will show you!

Well surprise surprise--little piggy Maggi has beaten us there--look at all this grub!

Our humans get all the culls from the salad factory in Town.  You wonder how anyone could ever go hungry when you see the things they throw out!

See?  The cows go BONKERS for this stuff--it is like candy to them and when the bin comes rolling into the farm you can hear them blatting for miles around.  They come running for that good sweet grub!

These pineapple cores are fun to feed.  They eat them like I eat dog treats!

I chomp down on a an old broccoli stock--hehehe!

Mag mows down a pineapple!

Now here comes the tractor with one BIG SCOOP!

The cows go crazy, they are mowing and blatting and making a big ruckus.
At first they push and shove, but there is so much food they soon settle in.

If we dump some in this corner--it will spread them out even more.

SPLAT!!!!  There it goes.  The air smells so sweet from all that good produce.  It smells just like a giant fruit salad everywhere!

It is like Christmas every Saturday and every Tuesday and the cows get very excited when it is BIN day.

Our prize winning bull-- Johnny Cash --would like to give you a big wet kiss.

As for me, I love to sit and listen to them eat--and then I think how yummy and sweet our beautiful, homegrown, pasture fed beef is going to taste.  Support your local farmers!  Love Guinny

Hauling Home the Hay

Oh Hi.  Guinness here.  As you can see I have been on a working vacation.

A farmer's work is never done, and we had to get all the hay off the fields.  It has been a bumper crop year.  Better get to work!

And Look!  Maggi LOVES to chase the tractor!  She thinks it is so fun to run in the fields. Look at her go.

As for me--I know my human enjoys my company in the field.  So I make sure I am available for moral support.

I am ALWAYS available for hugs when necessary.  Thanks for reading.  Love Guinness.

One Long Haul

*YAWN*  Winter can be such a drag...

 Everything is still as bone.

But come to think of it, just in February alone I have been on some very pretty walks...

And I have had some fun times with silly little Mags!  Hehehe look at her!

And she got to walk on the lake! Remember?

And we hiked up to the cabin and had a cozy fire too!

And come to think of it, we went out to the ocean just last weekend

We aren't even through the month yet and I did ALL THAT!  SHEESH...I better take a minute here and catch up on my sleep!

Golden Treasures in Fragile Packages

Mom wanted hens so last week Dad made this silly hen house out of an old grain silo. Hehehe! Now there is eggs, and every day we go collect them. Mom says it feels special to gather eggs, we say it is special to eat omlets. The hens can free range during the day, then go home at night. Every day a hen will lay one egg. When she thinks she has enough, she will sit on them until they hatch, so a 20 day old egg will hatch the same time as an egg that was laid on the last day! Kewl-huh? But there is no rooster, so there would be no chicks... so we take the eggs each day, and then the next day, there will be more treasures to collect. It is an Easter Egg hunt everyday now!
