Guinness here. On Easter morning I peaked in the nursing pen and look what I found!
Uh oh...this is the smallest calf I have ever seen. He is so frail and weak. His mother has rejected him...so he hasn't nursed.
Gramps comes over to help. He is a farmer from way back, he knows what to do.
The little calf won't suckle...
...and he can't stand up very good either.
So he has to be fed through a tube instead. That tube goes down his throat and into his tummy. It does not hurt the calf at all.
Then I lick the calf down to try and stimulate him. I have always been good like this with the new calves. Sometimes people call me Nanny Guinness, because I have good nurturing skills.
I lick his ears and his neck and his face. Poor sweet calf.
It's OK little buddy.
Oh, you are a great Nanny. Hope the little might makes it.
