Slocum

Here we are at the farm--but that old, run down house on the top of the hill belonged to Captain Joshua Slocum --the first man ever to sail around the world!

No one lives there now and it is falling apart, which is sad...

And here is the Slocum Brook, also named after him.

  2. I can't remember if you shared this you but last week we went to visit Grandma. While out walking some guy stopped to ask if we were some type of wolfhounds. Momma just had to laugh and say that we are way too little to be wolfies.

  4. Thank you for telling us all about Slocum - we have to confess we have never heard of him!
We are sorry to hear his house is looking neglected - it would be nice if they made it into a wee museum or something. Looked like a good day.

  5. Such a sad thing when humans neglect their past history. So much today is forgotten or neglected by them. It is too bad, for one day they will realize it and try to re-establish old historic places.

  8. Sigh, oh to be able to explore such a beautiful area. And what a shame it's been left to languish.

  9. It looks like a great place to play. Too bad the people don't save the house!
