Here I am in historic Annapolis Royal--the first European settlement in North America!
All the pictures you see of me by the River in older posts are at the Annapolis River...but this is the end of that same River, and now it is the ocean. So this is the Annapolis Basin.
And Annapolis Royal was established as a Fort by the French...and there is Fort Anne down there.
There are cannons hidden behind the hills everywhere so the French could attack the English when they sailed into the Basin. It is strange to think this actually happened, huh?
GULP-- and this one is pointed right at my head!
And here is a hidden underground fort!
And there are dugouts all the way around it...
No way am I going down there!
But my mom went down and here I am crying....
Ok students! I hope you all paid attention to the history lesson because there will be a test on this tomorrow---HEHEHE, just kidding...
One of my favorite parts of the country. Aren't you lucky to explore such a beautiful place? And we are fortunate to have shared the experience!

Whoa! I hope there's no test or quiz after that lesson! I did pay attention though so I guess it would be okay if we got one.

That place looks super fun! You should have gone w/your mom down there in that hole. Careful of them cannons make sure they're not loaded w/icky creepy crawlies.. yikes.. that's scarier than a cannonball!
ReplyDeleteHi Guye - what great piccies! Our female human says she would have done better at history at school if there had been lovely doggies such as Guiness and Saige in the photos, she would have definately paid attention then, he he he! Tail wags - JD and Max.
ReplyDeleteSO Cool! Loved the pictures and the interesting history that went with them. The best part though was seeing you in the pictures. You really added something.
