Happy Father's Day, Weasel

There were only 3 eggs today so there is a weasel. We need to investigate this matter.

But first we have to stop in to wish our Grampy a happy Father's Day! We have to stay in the car because MacTavish is old and skittish now.

Our human went in to visit Tavish for a minute...

And checked in here! I see how it is. Mystery solved. Happy Father's Day, Weasel.

"Fowl" Play

ummm... I am not allowed to help get the eggs anymore...

Apparently there was a "minor mishap"....a "small incident". Nothing too serious, I just thought chicken was on the dinner menu...

But alas, it is going to be an omlet again...

...and that is not so bad either...

♪Ohhhh...I love Turtles...♪

Saige here reporting from Crick Hollow. We saw 6 painted turtles yesterday.

The first few we just smelled....

But then I got bold.

I started pawing them and flipping them over.

Ouur human had to flip them back over.

Big claws for digging!

Then I got really saucy and picked one up! I took off running ....

I suffered from temporary deafness and didn't hear the "DROP IT!" command...

Well, I took it right into the water...

AND I DROPPED IT!!!

See??? There it goes....

The Story of Saige

Three years ago when we finally felt we were in a responsible place to get a puppy, we decided on a Wolfhound for several reasons. We wanted a bigger, athletic breed as we are quite active and enjoy hiking, camping and the outdoors. Wolfhounds are also a dry mouth dog, so no chords of drool--rare in giant breeds. We have found them to offer very little odour, shedding and barking as well. The only downside was that they are a short lived breed. But that is a problem for humans, not for Wolfhounds.

And this beautiful litter was born on August 15, 2006 to a fantastic breeder in New Brunswick. That is Saige in the yellow collar, and Silver, Saige's sister in the pink collar. Silver lives further up the Annapolis Valley and we visit now and then. Initially we wanted that pink collared puppy, but the breeder said Saige was a more outgoing pup, and would better suit our lifestyle. She really got it right!

And here are Saige and Silver a few weeks old..Saige was the first born in the litter and the first to try everything. Do you like her tiger stripes?

We thought a female would be a good choice--a nice big dog--perhaps 100-130 pounds.

WE HAD NO IDEA OUR LITTLE BABY WOULD GROW THIS BIG!

At 10 or 11 months when she was 140 pounds or so, people were stopping us on the streets or crossing the road to avoid us or getting in accidents. Now we try and walk mostly on trails and in the woods.

She is the sweetest of sweetest dogs.

She is my first dog ever, so she has a very special place in my heart...

But as big as she is --she will always be my little Saigy!
