The Sweetest Flower

Hi! It's Maggi! Breath deep! sniff sniff sniff. What IS that HEAVENLY smell on the forest floor? AHHHH!!!!

OOOHHH! So THIS is what Mayflowers smell like! Well, they always say you NEVER forget the first time you smell a Mayflower!

Anne of Green Gables said she feels sorry for people who live in a land where there is no Mayflowers. She said Mayflowers were the souls of flowers that died last summer and THIS is their Heaven.

You know, all the humans say I smell very, very good too--just like all the beautiful wildflowers in the forest! They say I am one of those rare "scented hounds" that you read about in legends. "Scented Hounds" are normal seen only in Afghan hounds... but I must be a throwback!

Well, that settles it! From now on you can just call me MISS MAGGI MAYFLOWER!

  1. Oh Miss Maggie Mayflower, you are so sweet!

  2. love it Maggie Mayflower...nice sweet post...

  3. What a sweet little face on this Maggie girl!

  4. OK, then Miss Maggi Mayflower! We've never sniffed a mayflower. The only ones we see are moving vans, BOL!! Pleas take extra sniffs for us. We're so deprived!

    -Gizmo, Bart and Ruby

  5. We loved reading about the Mayflowers and what Anne of Green Gables said about them. That really appealed to Murray.

    take care

  6. Those wolfie faces just melt us. Maggie the Mayflower....you're just beautiful.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella

  7. What a beautiful middle name, and what a lovely way to have chosen it. Mama had heard of May flowers, generic, but had forgotten about mayflowers, specific, from when she read the Anne of Green Gables books many decades ago.

We'd heard of scent hounds, of course, but not of scented hounds. Of course, all dogs have some kind of scent, just like all people do. Ours is just closer to natural than the humans, what will all their bathing and perfumes and stuff. Although Abby does love a good roll in something stinky, which is her favorite perfume.

  8. Hey Maggi!
Wow, I bet those smell so sweet! I love these pix of you with those flowers. Very cute. Your name may be Maggi, but a rose by any other name...
    Grr and Woof,

  9. Hi Maggie,
You look beautiful in the flowers!

  10. Oh my goodness, I never knew that mayflowers were real flowers - I thought they were just the name of a famous old ship bringing lots of people to America! Hee! Hee!

  11. Every year we scour the forest floor nearby or at the park eyeing Mayflowers...then dropping on all 4's to inhale the magnificent fragrance. Lovely!
