Crick Hollow

Guinness here. Last year this time we were out for a stroll at Trout Lake, a 20 minute drive from our house. Mom was sad because cottage season was starting and it would be nice to have a little place. But cottages can be expensive...plus on the Lake you would still have neighbours, so Wolfhounds couldn't really run free there either.

We turned to walk down by the Lake but I can be stubborn you know--I wanted to keep walking down the Road. Lucky thing too, because on the opposite side of the road going into the woods we saw this sign:

Our mom did not know what we were going to find at the end of that road... but she knew what ever was there it was meant for us. She had a special feeling. Right then and there she took a pen and wrote her name on the sign where it said "All That's Needed is You"...

Then we walked for 10 minutes up a woods road...and found this Gingerbread House in the middle of the woods! And here is the very first time we saw it!

And then our Mom started JUMPING UP AND DOWN AND LAUGHING!!!! and that made us go REALLY CRAZY and we ran crazy circle ZOOMIES all over the nice cleared yard! HAHAHA!!!

Then Mom called Dad on the cell phone and told him to come up RIGHT NOW! But Dad was at the gym and wouldn't come. He said Mom was having one of her newfangled ideas...

Well the next day Dad came to see it and he said MOM WAS RIGHT, it would indeed be perfect for us, our friends and our family. And it would be safe for dogs to run free away from any roads--but still nice and close to the Lake! The best part was the cottage was going cheap--less than half the price of a new car--so we were just LUCKY!

And here is the inside of the camp. It is rustic --- but we like the simple life!

And the little road goes on a bit further to our own private stream called Slobbery Meadow Brook--HAHAHA where we can canoe and swim. It is really private and beautiful! We think at one time the area must have been used as a hunting/fishing camp.

When I broke my leg, Mom took her vacation from work and moved out here for 2 weeks with me because the ground was level, and there were no stairs. I had to be carried everywhere, so this was a good place to go and heal up.

I felt much better being in the cozy cabin away from everything. Can't you tell how snug I was?

If you look close, you can see me in the car! Can you see me?

That cottage came with some tenants too! BATS!!!! So last weekend our handy-man Dad cleaned out the attic, sealed it off and hung up bat houses so they will have a new place to live.

AND I was a REALLY good supervisor. And that is the story of our funny little camp, Crick Hollow! Hope you liked it!

  3. What a pawsome little place to get away :)
My Mummy and Daddy want something like that here so we can all go on vacation together. But we already have 2 houses and Mummy said Daddy can't buy anything else until we sell one and they want to buy a place in France too so I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon :(
    Big licks to you

  12. We would love to come stay at your cottage. We would hardly take up any room and could snuggle up to you guys to help you keep warm at night. It would be fun to have you two show us the ropes in the big woods.

  17. A perfect little get-away place in the woods. Sometimes life puts us in the right place at the right time to find the hidden treasures.
