Even though we Wolfies are a short lived breed, 3.9 years for Saige and 4.9 years for Silver really is too short.
But as I have told you all before, time is a problem for you humans-- not for us furkind. At some point today you probably thought about what you did yesterday, or perhaps what was going on a year ago. Or maybe you are dreaming about your future...or what you need to get done by the end of the day...or in the next few minutes...
We do not think like that. "THE NOW" is what is important to us dogs. And I will tell you Silver had a life full of wonderful "NOWS." Look how happy all her "NOWS" are in these pictures! It makes me smile.
We often hear people say "Oh! I could never get a wolfhound--it is too sad!" I ask you: Will it not be just as sad to lose a beloved pet after 15, 18 or even 20 years? Of course. Silly humans. You deny us our very life when you confine us to your receding walls of time.
Great advice. SHE feels priviledged that Fiona, HER wolfhound lived until nearly 9. Looks like Silver and Saige did pack alot of Nows into their lives......just as Guinness and Maggi are.

A sad, but very true story. We need to just treasure our time with our animals, no matter how long or short is was. Bless you all!
ReplyDeleteHi Guinness.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about beautiful Silver. She was absolutely gorgeous and her pix tell us all how amazingly full her life was. Thanks for sharing her with us today and now we'll always remember her too. I'm sending loving vibes to your whole pack today.
Grr and a Sorrowful Woof,
Sarge, COP
I know she will be missed. They take part of our hearts with them when they leave.
ReplyDeleteWe too are sorry to hear that sweet Silver has crossed, but we sure bet she is happy there with beautiful Saige. Your words are very wise. Better to have loved than never to have loved at all. The quality of life should never be measured by the quantity of time.
ReplyDeleteGodspeed, Silver.

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful girl. Thanks, Guinness.

Sad to hear about the loss of Silver!
ReplyDelete3-5 years is just too short, but I agree completely with the sentiment. It would be just as sad after 15 years.
My just turned 4 year old Great Dane is about to undergo chemotherapy and a splenectomy... Doc says if it goes well I could get another 4 years out of her. Fingers crossed!
Guinness you are so WISE. A beautiful tribute to Silver. She will be missed but live on in hearts and memories.

Thank you for explaining things Guinness. These humans are not like us dogs. Silver had a great life as did Saige. Better to have been loved by an Woolfie than never loved by one we say.
ReplyDeleteMuch love

Sorry we are Anonymous but we are having some trouble leaving comments!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post. Such great perspective.
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry to hear about Saige's sister.
Sending you big hugs and giant Dane kisses from Seattle.
You are very wise. As the saying goes, "it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all". (I think this is the right quote). Enjoy your beautiful memories. Sending little kisses, No Worries, and love, Stella
ReplyDeleteAww, so sorry about Silver! They were both beautiful dogs .. and funny ... people say the same thing about Shar Pei. I wouldn't change it for the world though.
ReplyDeleteLove the wrinkle dogs <3
Is that Medford Beach? or Kingsport?...I spent many summers there as a child and Silver is bringing back all these wonderful times I had. Thanks Silver!!!
ReplyDeleteSo Long, Silver. Until we meet again!
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Stella
Very wise words indeed. Humans could learn so much from us doggies.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,

Such a beautiful post. Love the pics - with the little girl, and the last one walking alone on the beach. Pulls at my heartstrings for you are so right, their time with us is way too short, but we should treasure every moment and memory. Thank you for sharing. Travel to the Bridge with loving memories in your heart, Silver.
ReplyDeleteWonderful outlook, touching photos. You are so right, animals live for the moment never worrying about tomorrow, or regreting yesterday. We could learn volumes from them. Over the Rainbow Bridge, Silver.
